Special Programming Alert: Happy Halloween 2011

It's a Halloween themed weekend 'cause let's face it... songs about vampires, werewolves, devils etc are a hell of lot cooler than the typical tired ol' Xmas songs! Regular programming resumes Tuesday.

Red Hot Rebellion: Whole Lotta Update

If you want Red Hot Rebellion, you got it.

One of the benefits of owning/operating your very own internet radio station is sometimes getting to hear stuff before the 'general public'. This week I received the tracks from the Red Hot Rebellion long awaited debut album (3.5 months before it's release date) and I can say without a doubt that they flat out ROCK. I've got the ok from Jimmy Thrillwell to add several tunes to the rotation.

Lead Dog Michael Hannon
"Things are getting busy in Dog World,....

As you know American Dog just got back from another European tour where we played 25 shows in 30 days,...after that we took a week and a half off, but we are now back to writing new songs,.....

We will head into the studio with our long time producer Joe Viers at the the end on November to knock out as many songs as we can,....I will then head to Los Angeles for a "one-off" Salty Dog Reunion show on December 10th at the Key Club,....While I am out there I will be playing the new American Dog songs for a few managment companies to try and get us the next step up the ladder!

American Dogs XXX-Mas party will be on Saturday, December 17th at the Cock-n-Bull in Summit Station/Pataskala, Ohio. We will do a full set, plus we have "Dressed in Electric" playing.

Other than that, not much happening.

Cheers, Michael Hannon"

Six Shot Revival - 'Greatest Hits Vol 1'

QUICK REVIEW: Six Shot Revival (Atlanta,GA) have enough Southern Pride to brazenly name their 1st full length release Greatest Hits Vol 1 yet aptly describe themselves as "not your Daddy's Southern Rock". Free of many of the cliches of the sometimes tired genre and loaded with excellent songwriting & musicianship, Greatest Hits Vol.1 is easily one of the best releases of 2011. When a 12 song album is 12 songs strong you know you've got a winner. 5 outta 5 cat-heads!!!

The Bloody Muffs: Toothapocalypse

(10/18/11 PRESS RELEASE) NYC punk band The Bloody Muffs' bass player Jessica Carmen has teeth smashed in freak mic accident.

Jessica finishing the show with some vocal help

"On October 14, 2011 The Bloody Muffs played a show at The Local 269 Bar, infamously known as "Toothapocalypse". The crowd was into the set and a crazy mosh pit broke out spilling onto the stage. One of our fans went down and the microphone hurled at Jessica as she stepped up to sing blinded by spotlights and unable to see the impending doom. Her front tooth was shattered into pieces. After some spitting out of teeth, a triple shot of whiskey and making sure she was alright by fans and friends, the show went on.

Fans and friends of The Bloody Muffs generously donated almost enough money to cover the emergency repair. Jessica is still left with the cumbersome cost of the permanent repair.

On October 29th 2011 The Bloody Muffs will host a benefit with proceeds going to "Jessica's Smile". Featuring: The Anti Psychotics, The Group Sex Poets, Out Of Order, The Dead Tricks, Tied For Last and of course The Bloody Muffs. If you would like to attend please contact TheBloodyMuffs@gmail.com for more information.

If you are unable to attend the benefit and would like to donate to "Jessica's Smile" please visit thebloodymuffs.com/JessicaSmile.html."

Holy hell... talk about a trooper! Doesn't get much more punk rock than that. If this ain't a worthy cause I don't know what it is. Please consider making a donation to help Jessica get her smile back.

ReverbNation Spotlight: Sons of Rock

Sons of Rock (Madrid, Spain)
"SONS OF ROCK is a band created in the summer of 2007 by Alba C├ęspedes (vocals and lead guitar). The band’s name is inspired in a Miguel Rios’ song (a well-known Spanish rock singer) entitled “Bienvenidos” with which he started all his concerts.

We could categorize Sons Of Rock as a Rock and Blues band, but the truth is that there are traces of R&B and Soul in a lot of their songs, which leads to an original and unmistakable sound. Today, it’s one of the emerging bands with a more successful career and greater achievements despite its short existence and the youth of its members.

The band’s work has been recognized by the specialized critique in numerous occasions, appearing on press, on radio, and TV; playing in several of the biggest clubs and festivals in Spain and winning more than 10 national and international contests.

Picture of the Week 10/16/11: Appetite For Everything

Fat Axl Rose
Welcome to Type 2 Diabetes!

We veer away from the usual unsigned & independent music fare to share with you the Picture of The Week. It's Fat Axl performing with ahem.. 'Guns N Roses' recently at Rock In Rio. Watch if you dare 'cause it's pretty sad. Actually it was a toss up this week when it comes to photos of newly fat vocalists. I don't know any Christina Aguilera album or song titles though.

The Skinny: 10/13/11

A quick look at news, links, & other stuff from the world of FatCat Radio.

- THAT'S ALL FOLKS # 1: Kobi announced last month that they have called it quits (on good terms). A new project featuring some of the former members of Kobi is expected soon.

- THAT'S ALL FOLKS # 2: Silent Meow have also called it a day after seven years. Their final show was last week. CDs & merch on sale for 1/2 price while supplies last.

- DRUMMER NEEDED: The Anxieties (Portland, OR) will have an opening for a drummer after what could "maybe our last show for the foreseeable future!" on Friday 10/14.

- VOTES NEEDED: Mothership needs your help in landing a spot on "one of the fastest growing music showcases in Texas ". Go to the 35 Denton website and suggest (vote) Mothership. I also suggested Texas natives Broken Teeth and Adrian and the Sickness. Always vote FatCat !!!

- YOUR NEW FAVORITE FUCKIN' INTERVIEW: Deathsquad Demongods leader Stevie Peavey has been running his mouth again. This time around it's with Natalie's World.

- FROM THE VAULT: Rocker Lips have made their entire catalog available for purchase/download via something called Facebook's 'Music Vault'.

- GO PLAY IN TRAFFIC: A Simple Complex now has an 'Official Street Team' and want you to join.

- IT WASN'T A THREAT: And finally, as previously promised it's now a requirement of artists approved for airplay via the Music Submission Form to provide a station identification before their music will be added to the rotation. That's how Swede rolls these days.

Introducing: BUSHFIRE

BUSHFIRE on Facebook

"BUSHFIRE is an International Rock Band, based in Germany, that dabbles and dwells in the sounds of blues, stoner, doom and southern musics. There will be no overblown egocentric claims and abundant adjectives in the nature of description of their sound, but more a true feeling that you should make up your own mind and opinions. 'We do what we do and we do what we like, so hopefully you will like it as well and if not, thats ok too!'"

BUSHFIRE (Germany) is the latest band to come our way via the the Music Submission Form. Their current album Black Ash Sunday is quite impressive - all tracks have been in heavy rotation of late. For the complete band bio, photos, concert dates and the latest news (bass player wanted!) check out the official BUSHFIRE website @ bushfiremusic.com

VIDEO: An introduction to Dave Arcari

If you're even an occasional listener of the FatCat Radio Network an intro to Dave Arcari really shouldn't be needed as he's long been one of our notable artists. As such you can hear his tunes aired several times through out the day. Above is the brand new 2011 version of the introduction video Dave's been doing the last few years. Primarily intended for venue owners and promoters it does serve as fine intro for new fans as well. Great idea!

Dave's got a big online presence - in addition to the official website be sure to check out his blog, ReverbNation, Facebook, Twitter and last but definitely not least, YouTube.

VIDEO: American Dog - 'Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?' (live)

"Here Kitty Kitty!"

American Dog (Columbus, OH) finished up a month long tour of Europe yesterday. Fans did a great job documenting the gigs. Lots of footage on the ol' You Tube. Above is a long threatened cover of one of my personal favorites from The Cramps (with a smidge of Uncle Ted) performed September 21 at Caf'Conc in Ensisheim, France.

Picture of the Week 10/1/11: More bands should do this

If more bands did stuff like this with their merchandising the Picture of the Week feature might actually be weekly! Not sure where you can get a shirt but you can pick up one of my favorite albums of 2010 - Officer Down! - by Washington DC's Copstabber over at Zodiac Killer Records.
