VIDEO: The BEST guitar ever made !!!

I may be a tad biased but c'mon...that is AWESOME!

Seriously, how $*#&! cool is that?!?!?! The beautiful one of a kind guitar featured in the above video was hand made and custom painted by Jason Farthing from Smokin' lil' Sound Box. I've been admiring Jason's art since adding his band The Budrows to the FatCat playlist last year. His band is a testament to the great sound you can get out cigar box guitars - something that has long intrigued me. A couple weeks ago I contacted Jason to inquire about commissioning a custom FatCat acoustic. We tossed around a couple of ideas and well... you can see the results in action above! THANK YOU JASON !!!

REVIEW: Kentucky Bridgeburners - 'Hail Jesus'

Artist: Kentucky Bridgeburners
Album: Hail Jesus
Released: December 2011
Available: Slinging Pig Records

While the worldwide Pussy Posse continues to wait for a follow up to 2009's From Hell To Texas (reissues, live albums both old & new notwithstanding), Nashville Pussy ringleader Blaine Cartwright has quietly been cranking out the most creative, and arguably, the most accessible, material of his long songwriting career. First came the criminally under the radar final Nine Pound Hammer album Country Classics. Then came the, as of yet unreleased, fantastic new Southern Rock outfit Buzzard. And most recently, in what no doubt comes as a surprise to many Nashville Pussy fans, the heartfelt straight up gospel record Hail Jesus from yet another new band called Kentucky Bridgeburners.

ReverbNation Spotlight: The Pimps

The Pimps (Rockford, IL)
"In the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety-eight, five men from Rockford, IL gathered together with one common yet simple goal: Play music instead if getting shitty jobs. It didn’t take long for the band to build a name and a following. Since their days on Hollywood Records, touring this fine country and having songs featured on TV shows like "Third Watch", "Arrow Affliction" and movies like "Crazy Beautiful" and the MI2 soundtrack the band has turned heads everywhere they stop. Since 2000, they have played over 150 shows a year throughout the Midwest. They have produced 9 independent releases that have sold more than 50,000 units, and still don't have to work alot of shitty jobs...."

Fresh Out Of The Box: The Strange Avenues

The Strange Avenues on Facebook
"If music nourishes the soul, listening to the Strange Avenues is like a strict diet of beer, cigarettes, and rock n' roll. TSA manages to draw from the best of rock, punk, outlaw country, and blues, congealing the blend into a sound that is in a word, raw. Completely without pretense, it's rock as written by guys that just want to drink beer and play guitar."

VIDEO: BUSHFIRE - 'You Should Have Known'

New video from BUSHFIRE and Ambitious Films (who I'm betting has seen Nosferatu a time or two.) "You Should Have Known" is my personal favorite track off the excellent album Black Ash Sunday.

VIDEO: Dave Rude & 'Running With Demons'

Friend of the station, Dave Rude recently beefed up his already impressive resume (Dave Rude Band, Epiphone pitchman, someone with an actual fond memory of Myspace) by adding film score composer to his list of skills. When you think of rock stars & scoring I'm guessing 'film' normally comes in a distant third to 'chicks' and 'drugs'. Dave recently sat down to discuss how he came to be involved with the critically acclaimed 'Running With Demons' documentary & how one goes about scoring a film.

Wizard Eye on Facebook
"Formed in late 2007, Wizard Eye comprises three like-minded brethren whose combined experience includes almost two decades of music performance ranging up and down the East Coast of the United States at countless venues ranging from New York City's finest showcase rooms to down-and-dirty basement parties in the kudzu fields of Raleigh, NC."

Wizard Eye (Philadelphia, PA) is the 1st band accepted for airplay by way of the Music Submission Form in 2012. Their self-described "loud, down tuned, psychedelic, riff-based, heavy rock n' roll" sound fits in nicely on the FatCat playlist. Their album Orbital Rites is available for FREE at Bandcamp.

Thirty 2 Life: R.I.P. Michael Adams (1971 - 2011)

Very sad news to report out of the Thirty 2 Life camp I'm afraid. Founding member, Michael Adams (lead guitar/vocals) passed away last month just prior to Christmas.

Bono, AR- Michael Keith Adams, departed this life on Thursday, December 23rd, at his home, at the age of 40.

He was born February 1, 1971, in Jonesboro, the son of Bill and Sharon Manning Adams. He married Melissa Battles on February 14, 1995 and they enjoyed 16 years together. Michael loved his music and was involved in that since a child. He was a member of the Thirty 2 Life Band and was renown for his guitar abilities. He was very generous and did lots of benefits for St. Jude's. He also loved his family and animals.

Full obituary here.

Thirty 2 Life has been a part of FatCat Radio since they formed in 2003. While I never got the chance to see the band live, never personally met Michael or the rest of the guys, news of his death hit me pretty hard.

The original FatCat: Gone...but not forgotten

Big Fat G

It's been one year since Marley, aka Big Fat G, the official FatCat Radio mascot/logo model, went to the Big Litterbox In The Sky. She may be gone but will NEVER be forgotten. With all due respect to the friend she never met, our new cat Beatrice, and of course, her old pal Elsie, (as well as all the other pets out there), ol' G was THE BEST CAT EVER. This station shall forever be dedicated to her memory.

Its size is just over 24 sq mi with an estimated population of over 30,000." Source: Wikipedia
